What work of art (film, book, record, whatever) changed your life?

Nabokov's Lolita. I'd always loved books, but this is the first book I read which recreated the sense of falling in love. The power and lyricism and sheer mastery of this work continues to awe me to this day.
I can't believe they killed off Neville Longbottom like that! Why use a spell like Sodomus Orifus on the poor guy? And really, Ginny getting pregnant halfway into the story was just poor taste - what are children going to think about such an event? And did Harry really have to live with the Wookies and learn how to use a light saber over the course of THREE chapters? It could have been handled in one!
Okay, okay, none of these things happened. But I did enjoy the book a great deal, it didn't feel like I wasted the last twenty-seven or so hours of my life, and the ending made me cry a little (as did some other parts). So now I can go back to finishing the Don DeLillo novel...
